I have the Hoka One One Stinson Evo Tarmacs. That is truly a ridiculous name. Overall, my feelings are mixed. I found myself enjoying the core attribute of the Hoka: the sole. Much to my surprise, it did not feel heavy and did not perform heavy. I never use them on the track, but for doing easy runs out on the roads. The flip side of the above logic is that minimal shoes might help things for the knee at the expense of the lower leg. You work the calf and Achilles harder but run with effectively a better shock absorber under your knee. Proper functioning body being a better absorber than shoe foam. I've worn the Stinson Trails, the Constants and the Bondi Bs previously, so I've been counting down until fall which is when the Hoka One One Facebook page said their new Speedgoat model would be available. Anecdotally speaking, building up the leg strength for standing all day comes with time and practice. Personally I hate wearing Hokas around as a daily shoe because they feel awkward for anything not running, and the squishiness of the foam is really unstable and makes my foot hurt trying to do micro adjustments.
The cushion just isn't there. I pulled them out over the last few months and even on the first mile, my feet are screaming at me to get more cushion. I finally want to purchase my first Hoka One One pair. I've read a million reviews, tried multiple styles on in the store, but there are many options and I can't make the executive decision.
