My brother I law has a 06 Sorento 2.5 crdi automatic and it's over heating to max then engine protection kicks in and cuts the revs back. In about 10-15 mins. No load. The top radiator hose is scalding but the bottom is luke warm (if that) and the top 2-3inches of the rad itself is hot. No hot

(The Sorento also uses a water cooled turbo.) 2009, so you have a Variable Geometry turbo (VGT). Generally recommended that if you need to replace turbo, best to replace the oil pipes, in and out, as well. Kia had an issue around 07/08 with turbos and issued software mod to minimise 'overspeed' and checked some vehicles for oil feed problems.

Hi guys, bought my Sorento from a pretty untrustworthy dealer, car was previously used to tow a caravan for a lot of its life it seems, but has a thorough service history, including replacement turbo and some sort of engine rebuild in '19.
